Our Beginnings
Our health center was established in 1992 as Greenville Community Health Center and initially provided services from the eighth floor of the old Greenville General Hospital. At that time, the center had only a few doctors and served about 2,500 patients. In 1999, following a merger with Slater-Marietta Health and Human Services, a rural health center located in the mill village of Slater in northern Greenville County, Greenville Community Health Center became New Horizon Family Health Services, Inc.
New Horizon Today
Today, New Horizon serves nearly 23,000 patients at four office locations and two mobile units. We offer quality health care for anyone in need of a family doctor and medical home. Our years of experience and commitment to excellence have earned us the reputation as a trusted source of quality medical care and related services. New Horizon maintains strong working relationships with many other health and human services providers, hospitals and community agencies. Our patient-centered care model supports the goal of quality care for all people.

Board of Directors
New Horizon Family Health Services meets the Federal statutory requirements for community health centers in terms of governance and management. Our Board of Directors is an effective leadership team with 51% of its members serving as “consumer members.” As actual users of health center services, these consumer members represent the needs and concerns of the patients we serve. The remaining Board Members must be representative of our community and are selected for their knowledge of community affairs, local government, finance and banking, legal affairs, social service agencies and other areas of expertise.
We have a wide range of diversity on our Board of Directors in terms of race, culture, income level, education level, professions and age. Many Board Members truly enjoy the work of the Board and have served multiple terms of office. New Horizon offers Board Members the opportunity to participate on one or more well-functioning Board committees that meet regularly to discuss business on behalf of the organization.
