Family Medicine Services

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. It is a division of primary care that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages, sexes, diseases, and parts of the body. It is based on knowledge of the patient in the context of the family and the community, emphasizing disease prevention and health promotion.

Internal Medicine Services
Doctors of internal medicine, Internists, focus on adult medicine and have had special study and training focusing on the prevention and treatment of adult diseases. Internists are sometimes referred to as the doctor’s doctor, because they are often called upon to act as consultants to other physicians to help solve puzzling diagnostic problems. Internists also bring to patients an understanding of wellness (disease prevention and the promotion of health), women’s health, substance abuse, mental health, as well as effective treatment of common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system and reproductive organs.

Pediatric Services
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that deals with the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. Pediatricians focus on the physical, emotional, and social health of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Developmentally oriented and trained in skilled assessment, they are focused on prevention, detection, and management of physical, behavioral, developmental, and social problems that affect children. Pediatric services are provided at all New Horizon Family Health Services’ office locations and the Mobile Units.
